We have a light lunch and free time to explore.
Then we travel to Bohinj. Lake Bohinj, located in Triglav National Park, is a larger and much less developed glacial lake than Bled, so it’s a great place to avoid tourists en masse. It has a wonderful naturalness with some space to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Wednesday 23 BOHINJ (B,D)

This morning we sightsee at Lake Bohinj and take a cable car to Mt Vogel (1,600m high).
Then we visit Eco Farm Pr Tonejovc, where we taste some local cheese and have a butter making workshop.
We travel to Lake Bled and enjoy the combination of walking tour and a typical “pletna” boat ride to the island in the middle of Lake Bled.
The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. There will be time to walk around the lake (6km) if you want to.
As a special treat, we will end the day with a charming dinner in the Bled castle on the cliff above the lake.

Today we travel to Cortina d’Ampezzo in northern Italy. The Dolomites, in the northern Italian Alps have magnificent scenery.
We make a short stop in the town of Pieve di Cadore, home to Titian, a famous Renaissance painter.
We also go up the mountains to the open-air Museum of the Cinque Torri.
This evening we have dinner at our hotel.

We have an excursion to Lake Misurina, where we have a walk in the mountain air.
There will also be some time at leisure.

Today we travel across the Swiss border and make our way to St Moritz, the elegant resort that hosted two Winter Olympics.

Sunday 27 ST MORITZ (B)

We visit St Moritz’s leaning tower on a tour of the town. We also visit the Heidi Hut, used during the filming of the children’s story, and go on the funicular railway to Corviglia summit to take in the spectacular views from the top.

This morning we board the famous Glacier Express to Andermatt.
We cross the Landwasser Viaduct and enjoy the wonderful scenery before meeting our coach again in Andermatt.
We drive into the Alps to Tasch, where we board another train to travel to Zermatt.
This evening we have dinner at our hotel..

Tuesday 29 ZERMATT (B)

Today we go in a cable car up the slopes of the imposing Matterhorn to Glacier Paradise, the highest cable car station in Europe.

Then on to Grindelwald, known the world over for its dramatic setting surrounded by massive snow covered peaks and meadows. The views of the north face of the Eiger are exceptional.
Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

October 2020

Thursday 1 GRINDELWALD (B)

At 3,466 metres high the Jungfraujoch is often described as the ‘Top of Europe’, with incredible 360-degree views. Today we ride the cogwheel train to Europe’s highest train station at the top of the mountain.
There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the Alpine Sensation, the Panorama 360 Experience, the Ice Palace, Lindt’s Swiss Chocolate Heaven, and take the elevator to the Sphinx Observatory.
Also receive your Jungfrau Passport as a souvenir to take home with you.
On the return from Jungfraujoch, we travel to the delightful village of Lauterbrunen (via Wengen). Set spectacularly with 1,000 foot sheer cliffs rising either side, the valley is often called the ‘Valley of the Waterfalls’.

Today we go to Interlaken and have a scenic cruise on Lake Brienzersee. Then back to Grindelwald for the night.

This morning we travel to the stately capital of Bern.
We see the Bear Park and enjoy the panoramic view of the city from the Rose Garden; and the Old Town with the Clock Tower and the ornate, flower-adorned fountains.
Then we leave Bern and drive via Langnau in the Emmental Valley to picturesque Lucerne.
This evening we have dinner at a local restaurant with a Swiss folklore show.

We have a pleasant walk and admire Thorwaldsen’s Lion Monument, dedicated to the Swiss Guards who protected the Royal House of France during the French Revolution.

We walk by ornate patrician houses of the walled Old Town, then cross the famous covered Chapel Bridge to the Jesuit Church, the first large baroque church built in Switzerland on the north side of the Alps.
This afternoon is at leisure.

We have a late hotel checkout to 6.00pm and have a Farewell Dinner at our hotel.
Then we depart for Zurich airport and board our flight to Dubai.
