This unique tour across the fairly unknown south of Morocco is a feast for your eyes and palate – an incredible experience!
If you think of Morocco, you may conjure up images from 1001 Nights, of colourful bazaars and historic Kasbahs, but also of endless sand dunes, barren mountains and palm-fringed oases.
The old royal city of Marrakech is worth a trip in itself, and is our beginning and end point. From here we ride counterclockwise through the southern part of the country, discovering the cities of Essaouira and Agadir on the Atlantic coast and ride up to the Little Atlas range. Here the desert rules and the landscape is spectacular!
Deep in the southeast of the country, the endless dune fields of the Sahara begin. Then we swing north, crossing the High Atlas as we head back to Marrakech. Along the way we visit the fascinating, ancient fortified town of Aït-Ben-Haddou, and much much more.
People with average physical fitness can participate in the tour without any problems.
We avoid the high summer in Morocco and therefore also the heat. There is always enough water in the support vehicle.
The bicycles are equipped with double batteries and therefore have enough battery capacity to supply tour members with sufficient engine power.
We avoid cycling on the main roads as much as possible.
However over the Atlas Mountains we use more busy roads here and there due to the lack of alternatives. The support vehicle will be used primarily to indicate to the following traffic that caution is advised due to the group cycling ahead. Since the support vehicle is always with the group, participants who do not feel comfortable in such a situation can easily cover these sections in the support vehicle.

On our Moroccan E-Bike tour, we use Riese & Müller e-bikes.
There are many areas where the Riese & Müller e-bikes stand out in comparison to other brands.
Riese & Müller e-bikes offer exactly what is needed in terms of sizes, technology, style, elegance, utility and more.
Their e-bikes utilize some of the highest quality lights, seats, brakes, tyres and fenders in the business, and they exclusively utilize Bosch motors and batteries (two big reasons why service needs on a Riese & Müller bike are few and far between).
Additionally, each bike is hand built in Germany at a time when a lot of the other brands opt for cheaper manufacturing.
On this E-Bike tour you can choose one of the following: Riese & Muller NEVO 3 | RCharger Mixte | Charger
This E-Biking tour is scheduled for November 2021. As soon as further details are available we will update this page. 🙂
And we’re on our way to Morocco..
Mandy has led 58 tours for Tours Direct over the last 18 years, and just loves travelling with its adventure and fun. Believing that most of the delight of travel is in the journey, Mandy likes to make tours flexible for different levels of fitness and experience. In 2019 she was tour leader for a Danube Boat & Bike tour. Mandy discovered the joy of E-Biking by accident and is now an enthusiastic devotee.
Fantastic, Mandy went out of her way every day to check up on everyone, was very inclusive and informative. An excellent leader, strong and direct.
Mandy is an exceptional tour leader. A lovely caring personality. Always fun.
Mandy did a great job of meeting the needs of a disparate group. We enjoyed her roadside walks and ability to keep us amused with stories, jokes, crosswords, etc.
