Day 1: Auckland to Singapore - Thu 5th June, 2025 | And we're off....
Goodbye NZ - next stop Singapore.

Day 2: Singapore - Fri 6th June, 2025 | A day to relax...
Today we had the day at leisure in Singapore, enjoying the city’s vibrant atmosphere. before our evening flight bound for Johannesburg, ready to continue our adventure.

Day 3: Singapore - Jo'burg - Windhoek - Sat 7th June, 2025 | We made it!
After a long flight and lots of anticipation, we’ve officially landed in stunning Namibia – yay!
Our adventure began in Windhoek, a city where German charm meets African soul. First impressions? Wide skies, warm smiles, and a gentle hum of excitement in the air.
We met our wonderful guide Ian, who’s already impressing us with his endless knowledge and dry wit – we’re in excellent hands!
Tonight’s welcome dinner was just across the road at the elegant Stellenbosch Restaurant. Surrounded by leafy gardens and sipping cold Namibian beer, we couldn’t have asked for a better start.
Tomorrow, the real journey begins as we head deep into the Namib Desert – dunes, stars, and that desert magic await. Stay tuned!

Day 4: Windhoek - Namib Desert - Sun 8th June, 2025 | From City Sights to Desert Delights
We kicked off our morning with a short but sweet look around Windhoek, taking in the iconic Christuskirche and the imposing Independence Memorial – a striking start to the day!

Then it was time to hit the road, winding our way through the dramatic Naukluft Mountains. The scenery? Absolutely breathtaking – vast open landscapes, surreal colours, and that glorious, endless Namibian sky.

Of course, no desert road trip is complete without a pit stop at Solitaire, home of the legendary apple pie. And yes, it lives up to the hype – flaky, cinnamon-spiced perfection with a side of desert dust.

We’ve arrived at the gorgeous Agama Lodge, nestled right on the edge of the Namib Desert. A perfect spot to unwind, stargaze, and get ready for tomorrow’s adventure: the epic Sossusvlei Dunes!
Day 5: Namib Desert - Mon 9th June, 2025 | Dunes, Deadvlei & Desert Wonders
What a day! We set off early to catch the magical morning light over the dunes – and wow, did it deliver! Entering Naukluft National Park, we watched the world shift from golden grasslands to towering red sand dunes.

Wildlife bonus: several black-backed jackals made an appearance, adding a little extra wild to our desert drive.
We tackled the iconic Dune 45 – a steep climb but oh-so-worth it for the panoramic views. Then came the surreal beauty of Deadvlei, a landscape unlike anything else on Earth. Stark, ancient trees standing frozen in a sea of white clay and burnt-orange sand. Cameras were working overtime!

After a well-earned lunch in the park, our ever-knowledgeable guide introduced us to the clever weaver birds, whose enormous communal nests are true architectural marvels.
We wrapped up the day with a visit to the dramatic Sesriem Canyon, carved deep into the earth by centuries of flash floods.

Now back at Agama Lodge, relaxing and ready for a delicious buffet dinner featuring local delicacies – including Oryx steak for the adventurous among us.
Day 6: Namib - Swakopmund - Tue 10th June, 2025 | From Desert Highways to the Atlantic Coast
Another early start – but totally worth it! After a hearty breakfast and some excellent coffee at Agama Lodge, we hit the road ahead of the crowds. The morning light was absolutely magical, turning the mountains and golden grass plains into something out of a dream.
A definite highlight: we witnessed a massive herd of about 100 oryx crossing the road right in front of us – a real “wow” moment!
After a quick refuel (and maybe another slice of apple pie!) at Solitaire, we descended through the scenic Kuiseb Canyon Pass, stopping to admire quiver trees standing proud against the endless desert panorama.

Our arrival in Walvis Bay brought a refreshing change – coastal breezes and birds galore at the lagoon, a haven for flamingos and other waders. Then came a mouthwatering seafood lunch at Anchors, with the expansive bay as our backdrop.
We rolled into Swakopmund in the afternoon and did a quick orientation tour of this quirky, seaside gem. Everyone’s now buzzing with ideas for tomorrow’s explorations!

We’re staying at the ultra-stylish Strand Hotel, right on the waterfront – think ocean views, sea air, and top-notch comfort.
Day 7: Swakopmund - Wed 11th June, 2025 | Ocean Encounters & Aerial Adventures
Another epic day in Namibia! This morning, we boarded a catamaran in Walvis
Bay and were treated to some incredible close-up wildlife action. A seal
jumped onboard, quickly followed by a curious pelican, both clearly hoping
for a snack and a little attention!

We cruised past a lively seal colony and flocks of cormorants, with the
Namib Coast’s cool breeze and sparkling waters making for a perfect start to
the day. The beauty and abundance of birdlife in this area never ceases to
amaze.

Lunch was served onboard – fresh and simple, just right as we relaxed on the
water.

In the afternoon, five of us took a scenic flight over Sandwich Harbour and
Sossusvlei, and the views were nothing short of spectacular. From above, the
vast dunes and dramatic desert-scapes unfolded beneath us. We even spotted a
few shipwrecks and, to our surprise, several whales cruising along the Namib
Coast.

Back on solid ground, we’re already swapping stories about what we saw from
the sky. Namibia just keeps raising the bar!
Day 8: Swakopmund - Damarland - Thu 12th June, 2025 | Shipwrecks, Souvenirs & a Hometown Farewell
Today we waved goodbye to Swakopmund, a special place not only for its
seaside charm but also as the birthplace of our very own tour leader,
Andreas! A proud local moment as we headed inland once more.

Our first stop was near a recent shipwreck along the coast, just shy of
Namibia’s infamous Skeleton Coast, and a haunting reminder of the sea’s
power.

From there, we explored the extraordinary lichen fields, an otherworldly
landscape of living crusts that survive on coastal fog. A surprisingly
fragile and vital ecosystem hidden in plain sight.
As we journeyed further north, Brandberg Mountain; Namibia’s highest
peak, rose dramatically on the horizon, adding a touch of drama to the desert
skyline.
We stopped for a relaxed lunch at the quirky and welcoming Cactus & Coffee
Café in Uis, then visited a local roadside stall bursting with crystals,
gems, and handcrafted souvenirs. Some excellent shopping was done!
Cultural highlights followed as we met Herero and Damara women dressed in
their vibrant, traditional attire, sharing stories, smiles, and a few photo
ops along the way.

We’re now settling in at the stunning Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, nestled
among the rocky outcrops of Damaraland. With views over the desert plains
and a design that blends seamlessly into the landscape, it’s the perfect
base for tomorrow’s adventures.
Day 9: Damarland - Fri 13th June, 2025 | Rock Art & Desert Giants
We began today stepping back in time – way back – with a visit to the
incredible Twyfelfontein rock engravings, created thousands of years ago by
the San people. These petroglyphs are not only a glimpse into ancient
beliefs and storytelling but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site right in the
heart of Damaraland.

The afternoon brought us into the realm of Namibia’s desert-adapted
wildlife, and wow, did the desert deliver! First sightings included
hartebeest, springbok, and ostriches – already a treat – but then came the
showstoppers: a huge lone elephant bull, followed by a herd of around 15
elephants.

These majestic creatures strolled right past our vehicle, so close we could’ve
touched them (of course, we didn’t!). The silence, the dust, the sheer
presence of these gentle giants – it was a moment none of us will forget.
We ended the day with a classic Namibian sundowner from a spectacular
viewpoint. The view? An endless horizon glowing in golden yellow, dotted
with silhouetted ostriches crossing the plains. A perfect ending to a very
special day.

Day 10: Damarland - Etosha National Park - Sat 14th June, 2025 | Culture, Kindness & a Lucky Break on the Road
We said goodbye to Twyfelfontein this morning and started the day with a
visit to the Damara Living Museum – a truly special cultural experience. We
were welcomed with song, dance, and warm smiles, and learned about
traditional Damara life, from tool-making and fire-starting to storytelling
and herbal medicine. It was educational, fun, and full of heart.

Then it was onwards to Khorixas – or so we thought! Halfway there, our
trusty van suddenly ran out of fuel… yes, really. For a moment we all
wondered: How are we going to get to Etosha?

But Namibia always has a surprise in store! A big truck just happened to
appear down the road, and – what are the chances – our guide knew the
driver! A quick transfer of diesel, a few crossed fingers, and the van
roared back to life. Crisis averted, and spirits sky-high again.
We grabbed a quick lunch in Khorixas and then cruised straight to our home
for the next couple of nights: the fabulous Etosha Safari Lodge. After
settling in, we enjoyed a relaxing sundowner on the deck and a briefing for
tomorrow’s full-day game drive in the iconic Etosha National Park.
Excitement is building – big game awaits!

Day 11: Etosha National Park - Sun 15th June, 2025 | Etosha Magic – From Sunrise to Sundown
We were up bright and early today, leaving the lodge in time to reach the
Etosha National Park gate at sunrise – and it was well worth the early
wake-up call. Bundled up in every layer we had (yes, Namibia can be chilly
at dawn!), we climbed into our open safari vehicles and set off in search of
wildlife.

And wow, Etosha delivered! The list of sightings reads like a safari dream:
rhino, elephant, lion, giraffe, oryx, wildebeest, steenbok, and massive
herds of zebra and springbok. Bird lovers were also spoiled, but the real
avian star of the day was the stunning purple-chested roller – a flash of
colour against the dry bush that had everyone reaching for their cameras.

As the day warmed up, the layers came off and the sightings kept coming.
There’s something magical about spending a full day in the wild, moving from
one waterhole to the next, each one with a surprise waiting.
We returned to Etosha Safari Lodge just in time for a golden sundowner on
the deck, followed by a hearty buffet dinner – and plenty of storytelling
around the table.
Day 12: Etosha National Park - Mon 16th June, 2025 | Crossing Etosha – From West to East
Today we crossed the heart of Etosha National Park, traveling from Okaukuejo
to Namutoni – a full day in the wild! Our group rode in open safari vehicles
for panoramic views and prime wildlife spotting, while our dedicated guide
Ian bravely tackled the long route solo in the minibus.

We enjoyed sweeping views across the plains and pans, with regular stops for
wildlife sightings. After yesterday’s incredible list, we still had
surprises in store: a pair of white rhinos, more giraffes up close, and an
impressive elephant bull clearly in musth, marked by the tell-tale ooze from
his temporal glands – a definite sign to give him some respectful space!

We stopped for lunch at Halali Camp, then made a special detour to drive out
onto the Etosha Pan itself. Standing on this vast, blindingly white salt
flat gave us a real sense of the immense scale of the park’s namesake
feature – a surreal and unforgettable moment.

We made a quick visit to the historic German fort at Namutoni, a striking
whitewashed reminder of Namibia’s colonial past, before continuing on.
Eventually, we arrived at the gorgeous Mokuti Lodge – without a doubt the
most luxurious stay so far on the tour! Beautiful grounds, elegant rooms,
and now we’re ready to see what their famous buffet dinner has in store.
Expectations are high and appetites are ready!

Day 13: Etosha National Park - Windhoek - Tue 17th June, 2025 | Meteorites, Crocs & The Road to Windhoek
Today’s post is a short one – but it packs a cosmic punch!
We started with another amazing breakfast at Mokuti Lodge, then hit the road
early, heading south toward Windhoek.

On the way, we stopped to visit something truly out of this world – the Hoba Meteorite.

Discovered in 1920, the Hoba is the largest known meteorite on Earth,
estimated to have landed over 80,000 years ago. Weighing more than 60
tonnes, it’s made mostly of iron and nickel and likely arrived silently – no
crater, no impact debris. It’s an awe-inspiring chunk of the cosmos, just
lying in the middle of a Namibian field, and a reminder of how vast and
mysterious our universe really is.
Lunch was at the crocodile farm in Otjiwarongo, where we enjoyed a relaxed
meal at their lovely outdoor restaurant. A few brave souls even tried the
crocodile meat – reviews ranged from “surprisingly tasty” to “once is
enough!”
We’re now back in Windhoek, returning to the comfort of the Windhoek Luxury
Suites for our final night in Namibia. One last sleep before the journey
home begins.
Day 14: Windhoek - Victoria Falls - Wed 18th June , 2025 | From Desert Skies to the Smoke That Thunders
Today marked the start of the next chapter in our Southern African
adventure! We began early with a transfer to Windhoek Airport, bidding a
fond farewell to our incredible Namibian guide – a true fount of knowledge
and fun throughout our journey.

A smooth Airlink flight brought us to Victoria Falls, and as we descended,
we caught our first breathtaking glimpse of mist rising from the mighty
waterfall – a thrilling welcome to Zimbabwe!

We were greeted at the airport by our new Zimbabwean guide and whisked away
to the beautiful Palm River Hotel, nestled along the lush banks of the
Zambezi River. This place is paradise – serene, stylish, and steeped in
natural charm.

For those seeking an extra thrill, a few took to the skies again for a
helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, capturing dramatic views of the world’s
most famous curtain of water.
In the afternoon, we all boarded a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River – a
peaceful glide through golden reflections, with wildlife along the banks and
the sounds of Africa as our soundtrack.
Dinner back at the hotel closed the day beautifully.
Day 15: Victoria Falls - Chobe National Park - Thu 19th June, 2025 | From the Falls to the River – Hello Botswana!
We kicked off today with a visit to the thundering majesty of Victoria
Falls — and wow, was it in full force! The water was absolutely roaring,
the spray was drenching, and the views? Just spectacular. Everyone got
soaked and smiling – a perfect way to say goodbye to Zimbabwe’s natural
wonder.

From there, we hopped aboard our transfer to Botswana, stepping through the
unique cross-border routine: exit stamps in Zimbabwe, a walk across the
border, shoe disinfection at Botswana customs (yes, every pair!), and just
like that – we’re in Chobe country!
We’re now staying at the Cresta Mowana Safari Resort & Spa, beautifully
located right on the banks of the Chobe River. The views from here are
next-level, and the wildlife is literally at the doorstep.
This afternoon, we cruised the Chobe River, with Botswana on one side,
Namibia on the other, and wildlife all around us. We spotted elephants
drinking at the water’s edge, hippos lounging, crocs sunning, and herds of
buffalo and kudu grazing nearby. Birders were delighted with sightings like
the regal African fish eagle and many more feathered friends.

A delicious buffet dinner at Mowana capped off a day full of movement,
majesty, and memories.

Day 16: Chobe National Park - Fri 20th June, 2025 | Lions at Dawn, Elephants at Sunset – Chobe Delivers
Today started well before sunrise as we ventured into Chobe National Park in
open safari vehicles, braving the crisp morning air in hopes of big
sightings – and it paid off!

At first, the bush was quiet… but then: lions! A pride of at least seven
lionesses with cubs, lounging near the road in the golden morning light. The
atmosphere was electric, especially as the lions took interest in a distant
herd of buffalo. The light, the stillness, the tension – pure safari
magic.

We also spotted elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and more before heading back
to the lodge for a well-earned late breakfast. The rest of the morning was a
chance to relax and recharge—perfectly timed.

In the afternoon, we were back on the Chobe River, cruising through wildlife
wonderland once again. We were treated to the sight of elephants bathing
joyfully, and another group drinking right near the boat, so close you could
see their eyelashes.

More hippos, buffalo, kudu, giraffes, impalas and lots of bird species
joined the scene, making it feel like a wildlife documentary unfolding live
around us. And then came the grand finale: an unforgettable Chobe sunset,
painting the river in gold and crimson.

Everyone returned feeling awed and grateful – and just the right amount of
tired. Time now for rest and dreams of Africa.
Day 17: Chobe National Park - Okavango Delta - Sat 21st June, 2025 | Into the Heart of the Wild – Okavango Awaits
Today we launched into the final — and quite possibly the best — leg of our
African journey. We were picked up and transferred to Kasane Airport, where
our group boarded a private charter flight bound for the legendary Okavango
Delta. The views from above were breathtaking: wide open savanna, and
endless wild terrain.

Upon landing, we were met by two open safari vehicles and whisked straight
into the bush. Our destination: the Mma Dinare Camp, a remote and intimate
haven tucked along one of the Okavango River’s tranquil tributaries.
The welcome? Absolutely heartwarming. The camp team greeted us with genuine
smiles and joyful singing—setting the tone for what promises to be an
unforgettable stay.
After settling in, we headed out on our first game drive, and it didn’t take
long for the wildlife to show off. A massive elephant gave us a close-up
greeting, but the true star of the show was a leopard, stunning and sleek,
seen from remarkably close range—everyone’s cameras were clicking in awe.

We ended the day with sundowners in the bush, followed by fireside chats and
a fantastic dinner under the stars. A truly special moment: one of our
guests celebrated a birthday like no other, complete with singing, cake, and
a setting no five-star restaurant could ever match.

Day 18: Okavango Delta - Sun 22nd June, 2025 | Glamping, Game, and the Sounds of the Wild
Last night was our first in the glamping tents of Mma Dinare, and what an
experience it was! As we drifted off to sleep, we were serenaded by the
sounds of grunting hippos, chirping frogs, and – in the distance – the
unmistakable roar of lions. Nature’s lullaby, African-style.

We gathered around the fire for a hearty breakfast before heading out on a
morning game drive—and what a drive it turned out to be! We reunited with
the pregnant leopardess from yesterday, graceful and alert in the morning
light. Not long after, we spotted a cheetah, sleek and silent, followed by a
massive male leopard. That’s three big cats before brunch!

Along the way, we were also treated to sightings of giraffes, antelope, and
elephants, all adding to the day’s magic. Back at camp, we enjoyed a lavish
brunch and some well-earned chill time—though “relaxing” is relative when
elephants wander through the camp and a troop of baboons puts on a full-on
acrobatic performance.

In the afternoon, we had a truly serene experience: a mokoro ride through
the tranquil waters of the delta. Gliding silently among reeds and lily pads
was a new and very special experience for most of us.

After another delicious dinner, we ventured out on a night game drive,
shining spotlights into the dark to discover some of Africa’s nocturnal
life—from owls to elusive small predators, a whole new world revealed itself
under the stars.

Day 19: Okavango Delta Mon 23rd June, 2025 | Cheetahs, Footprints & Farewells – A Grand Safari Finale
Our final full day on safari in Botswana is drawing to a close, and what a
way to wrap up this unforgettable journey. Spirits are high as our guests
begin to reflect on their adventures and look forward to sharing their
stories with loved ones back home.
Last night brought a few unexpected visitors! One elephant rubbed itself
against a tent structure, giving a noisy surprise to its temporary
occupants. Throughout the night we heard the chorus of hippos, hyenas,
lions, and a symphony of frogs—a wild lullaby that only the Okavango can
provide.
This morning, after another crackling-fire breakfast, we set off toward our
walking safari. But the bush had one more show to put on—a large hyena
appeared on the track, and as we followed it, it led us to a group of four
cheetahs, lounging just meters from us. Incredibly, the cheetahs climbed a
tree to scout for prey—a rare and powerful sight.

Then came our guided walk, complete with a tracker and a safety rifle(thankfully not needed!). On foot, Africa reveals itself in a new
way—tracks, dung, plants, insects, and the subtle signs of animal life all
come into focus. A large herd of elephants came near but bolted once they
sensed our presence—reminding us just how alert and intelligent these
animals are.

And where are we? In the heart of the Okavango Delta, one of the planet’s
most extraordinary ecosystems. What makes it so special? The water here
starts its journey over 1,600 kilometers away in the highlands of Angola,
flowing down the Cubango and Cuito Rivers before fanning out across the
sands of the Kalahari. Uniquely, the Okavango never reaches the ocean –
instead, it disperses into a lush, life-filled floodplain that supports one
of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa.
Each year, the Delta floods during the dry season, creating a paradox where
water brings life at a time when everything else is drying out—a true
miracle of nature, and we are lucky to have experienced it.
This has been a day of deep connection with nature, and a fitting end to our
safari adventure of a lifetime.
