Staying in beautiful boutique hotels, this wonderful walking tour gives a new twist to some of the classic destinations of northern Italy: the canals of Venice; the medieval trails above Lake Como; the entrancing shores of Lake Orta; and the elegant arcades of Turin. We also stay in Southern Switzerland and walk in the hidden valleys of Ticino.Strung along the foot of the Alps, for millennia the Italian Lakes have been a gateway to the colour and life of the Mediterranean world. The walks on the tour follow these same ancient stone paths that wind high above the lakes passing through forests and isolated hamlets, with spectacular views across to soaring mountains, deep valleys and historic villas.
